Jess VanderWier

Registered Psychotherapist and Founder

Jessica is a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) and the founder of Raising Families Therapy. With extensive experience in Attachment, Children’s Mental Health, Play Therapy, Birth Trauma, Childhood Trauma, Complex Behaviours, and more, Jessica passionately supports parents and children in her practice. She incorporates modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focussed Therapy, and Perinatal Mental Health into her sessions. Jessica holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, postgraduate coursework in Behavioural Science from Florida Institute of Technology, and advanced training in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International.

Tanya Opoku

Registered Psychotherapist

Tanya Opoku is a Registered Psychotherapist with extensive experience supporting parents, children, and families navigating life transitions, trauma, anxiety, and parent-child connection and attachment. She is passionate about helping parents strengthen emotional connection, build confidence, and nurture themselves and their families through every stage of parenthood. Tanya integrates trauma-informed and attachment-based approaches, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), and mindfulness-based practices. She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and has a background in psychology, autism and behavioural science, developmental/ intellectual disabilities, and challenging behaviours.

Samantha Ranta

Registered Social Worker

Samantha is a registered social worker who has been providing trauma-informed psychotherapy for over a decade. Driven by a passion to support individuals and couples, Samantha completed her Master of Social Work at York University and the Advanced Certificate in Couple and Family Therapy Studies through the University of Guelph. After becoming a mom herself, Samantha was drawn to complete training to support perinatal mental health populations and continues to build support systems for other parents in her community. Samantha uses an integrative approach in her work as she applies strategies best suited for her clients. Samantha also believes in providing tools, resources and reflection questions for clients to engage in as she recognizes most work and change occurs in between sessions.

With over 5 years of experience supporting individuals and working in marginalized communities, Sam incorporates modalities such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) into his sessions. He holds a Masters of Divinity in Counselling from Tyndale University and is a Certified Anger Management Specialist and a Certified Domestic Violence Specialist.
